Reconciliation Grant Applications
Through your congregation’s giving to the Reconciliation Offering (Sept. 27 & Oct. 4), the Commission on Faith in Action can offer grants to support the local reconciliation work happening in Oklahoma communities.
Congregations can apply for a grant beginning today! The Commission will meet in early September to review grant requests and make decisions.

Regional Minister Michael Davison participated in a gathering of denominational judicatory and religious leaders in Oklahoma City on August 12th. Called together by a collaboration of Action Tulsa and Voice Oklahoma City, the meeting was hosted by the Archbishop of Oklahoma. It focused on reconnecting leaders whose institutional relationships extend back to the Oklahoma Conference of Churches, now Oklahoma Faith Network. The question for the day was, “How can our diverse religious heritages, imaginations, and institutions speak with one voice about hospitality and immigration policy for neighbors and those seeking to immigrate to the United States?”

Regional Board Meeting Update
With the Region’s mission in mind, the Regional Board held its first meeting of the 2026–2028 biennium on August 8 at Wildewood Christian Church. Led by our moderator, Rev. Jesse Jackson (East 6th Street CC, OKC), the meeting and orientation included banquet stories from the congregations represented, the installation of Rev. Shannon Cook as our Associate Regional Minister, a mid-year financial report from our treasurer, Pastor Elaine Howsley (FCC, Pauls Valley), and reports from our ministry partners, commission chairs, and Regional ministers. During the morning group building, two questions led to rich conversations among board members.
- What do you think is the single most important, life-giving characteristic of your congregation?
- What do you think is the single most important, life-giving characteristic of our denomination?
During this biennium, a task group led by Rev. Susan Payne (FCC El Reno), moderator-elect, will review the Region’s Constitution and Bylaws to determine if our current organization and governance fit the Region’s current needs for the next five years, and how we might align the Region’s governace with the changes to The Design and the Standing Rules of the General Board of the denomination. The next Regional Board meeting is November 7th.
Thank you, Rev. Dwayne Rodgers, second-vice moderator, and Wildewood Christian Church for hosting the Regional Board. Mark your calendar today for March 3-4, 2028, when Wildewood Christian Church hosts Regional Assembly ’28.

Rev. Shannon Cook was installed as Oklahoma’s Associate Regional Minister. Regional Minister Rev. Michael Davison officiated at this fall’s first Regional Board meeting held August 8th.
