There’s more —

  • The Commission on Youth, Children & Young Adults has been planning and preparing an exciting summer camping season which begins in June.
  • The Commission on Clergy continues to welcome men and women who are called to vocational ministry and walk with them on the journey. On March 30th, Crown Heights Christian Church ordained Rev. Ron Motley in a beautiful celebration.
  • The Commission on Reconciliation is providing Pro-Reconciling Anti-Racism training around the Region.

Thank you for supporting the Regional Church which is committed to following the ways of Jesus by feeding the hungry, caring for the children, building relationships, and showing God’s amazing and steadfast love to all. This is how we strengthen the church — together.

With your dollars, we can continue to lead young and mature Disciples of Christ to share the love and care of Jesus near and far. Please give what you are able and know all gifts are blessed and multiplied by God!

Space Available to Join the Upcoming Caminante Mission Trip in July!

The next Caminante mission trip to the Dominican Republic will take place July 21-July 27. There is space available if you would like to work with the Caminante staff in the summer community fair.

This fair serves around 300 children and teenagers over a three day period. While in the Dominican Republic you would participate in the following activities, including making coconut jewelry with Haitian teenagers, visiting a sugar cane plantation community, visiting the Caminante vocational school for hair braiding and haircuts, going to church Sunday evening in Boca Chica, and visiting Santo Domingo to tour the cathedral, the fort, and Christopher Columbus’ home.

You would also help take food to “street kids”, spend time with Sister Denisse, visit homework rooms, visit a major league baseball development camp, and play with the local children on the beach. As always the group will bring dental supplies for 300 children, baseball equipment, clothing, and school supplies.

This is a very safe trip. The trip is for recent high school graduates through people in their early 80’s. The total cost is about $1,800 per person and partial scholarships are available.

If you feel led to join this ministry, call Shauna Becker 405-820-3178, Don Johnson 580-402-2612 or the Regional Office 405-528-3577 for more details.

Holy Week: Pam’s Peace

This upcoming week and all its preparations is a week that I really miss in the life of serving as local clergy. It’s an intense week, requiring your full attention to many details and meaningful words that hopefully will be said on the right day! I pray for each one of you as you prepare for Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, and I give thanks for your faithful walk with Jesus.

This morning in my email, I received the Salt Project’s Holy Week devotion, Theologian’s Almanac. Take a breath, find a moment of refreshment, and carry on.

Peace & God’s Grace,
Pam

Area Clergy Meetings

The Southwest Area Clergy held their bi-monthly meeting at First Christian Church Chickasha on Monday, April 8th. After a delicious meal and some important fellowship, they previewed the Resolutions which will be presented at General Assembly 2019.

When the clergy walked up to First Christian Church Chickasha, they discovered a red ice chest with PB&J sandwiches in it. They later learned about the PB&J ministry that FCC Chickasha does daily to feed the hungry in their community. The Youth prepare PB&J sandwiches and freeze them, then the church puts a cooler out each day with free sandwiches for those in need. Thank you FCC Chickasha for helping feed the hungry in your community.

Upcoming Area Clergy Meetings:

  • The Northwest Area Clergy will meet on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Central Christian Church in Enid.
  • The Central Area Clergy will meet on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Disciples Center in Oklahoma City.
