Message from Michael: Fall Update

I trust you are well, and that as a follower of Jesus your journey in faith this year has helped you navigate life’s sorrows, joys, and daily decisions.

During my second semester of seminary, I was in what students called “The Dean’s Course”—a required first-year class co-taught by Dean Suggs and Rev. Dr. Kenneth Teegarden, a former General Minister and President of our denomination.

These two pastor-scholars assigned reading, but the lectures were mostly stories from their years leading congregations and walking with people in faith. One afternoon, Dean Suggs looked around the room, pointed at me, and said, “Mr. Davison, the gospel is one generation away from extinction. What are you prepared to do about it?” The silence that followed stretched back, it seemed, all the way to Easter morning. I think of that moment, and that question, often.

Every day, Oklahoma Disciples are answering Dean Suggs’ question. They are expanding and creating—setting the table wider in their communities and through this covenant we share as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma. There is so little space to show you all of it.

Our regional website, Facebook page, Instagram, and YouTube channel carry these banquet stories from our congregations and the region. Your financial support of your congregation and your gift to the Annual Fund provides for the intergenerational ministry you are helping to equip and empower.
