Why Your Congregation Should Participate

Each congregation in our denomination is unique, and your congregation is an integral and unique part of our Region. Your congregation should participate first because we are stronger when you are here! Together we make up the Body of Christ, and it is incomplete without your participation.

Your congregation also has an important story to share in regards to the mission that you do in your community. We won’t be able to hear about it and learn from you unless you are here!

Congregational Delegates

Every two years congregations from our Region are required to send representatives to join as a decision-making body to vote for new Regional Board members and consider any other Regional business.

According to the Bylaws of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma, voting representatives from the congregation is based upon participating membership as reported in the latest Year Book and Directory. Please call the Regional Office at (405) 528-3577 to obtain this information if you do not have a Year Book.

  • Each congregation shall be entitled to three (3) lay voting representatives plus one (1) additional lay voting representative for each three hundred (300) members or major fraction thereof over the first three hundred (300).
  • Each congregation, in selecting its representatives, shall seek to maintain a balance of lay men, lay women, and youth.

Others who may vote include:

  • Ordained and commissioned ministers in the Oklahoma Region whose ministerial standing is certified by the Regional Church.

Showcase Your Mission Work – Submit a Video

Your voice is an important part of the overall work of the region. We don’t often get a chance to share with others about the work that we are doing in our own communities. This video offers that opportunity. Perhaps a church in another part of the state can learn from what you are doing or get inspired by it and begin their own ministry in their town. Then, the work that you are doing will have grown well beyond the city limits. Share with us through this video some of what you are doing so we can all better do the work God is calling us to do.

How to Create Your Video

The easiest way to get us a video clip is by using your iPhone or other smart phone. Please film a :30 second clip of some of your mission work or someone telling us about your mission work. By doing this you can help us gather together a conversation of all the work we are doing in the Region.

Where to Send It

Once you have that video, just email it to Joshua Toulouse at rev.joshua@fcctulsa.org

Deadline

Make sure to have the video to Joshua by April 1st!

Questions

You can also send any questions you have about the video to Joshua as well at rev.joshua@fcctulsa.org

Be A Part of the Quilt!

FCC quilt art
To celebrate the vibrant and amazing ministries and missions of the Oklahoma Region, we are going to build a quilt. Every congregation and partner ministries are receiving a quilt square which you will find in this envelope.

Your congregation is invited to create something on your square which represents the mission activity or activities that your congregation does. This can be done simply or elegantly, by many or a few.

First Christian Church, Tulsa, created the example shown above to illustrate.

  1. What group in your congregation might take on this project? The Board, a Sunday School class, the Men’s Prayer group, the Women’s group, an individual?
  2. Spend some time in prayer and imagine how to express your congregation’s mission and ministry on a 12×12 quilt square.
  3. Use the quilt square sent to your church’s office.
  4. The quilt fabric is pre-washed, but please leave a one inch (1″) margin around the edges for assembling with other quilt squares.
  5. Your artwork can be expressed simply with fabric markers (purchased at Michael’s or Walmart) or computer programs or even quilted.
  6. RETURN THE COMPLETED SQUARE BY MARCH 15th TO:
