Gather Us In Friends & Colleagues in Christ!

With deep gratitude and a spirit of joyful expectation, I’m sharing important news from the Regional Board. On Saturday, May 17, 2025 the Board received the recommendation of the Regional Minister Search Committee. Rev. Susan Payne, who has guided the committee with insight, care, and faithful discernment, presented the candidate for Regional Minister, Rev. Michael A. Davison, Jr. The Regional Board voted unanimously to move this recommendation forward to a Called Regional Assembly for consideration.

Now we look to you, the wider church, to help us take the next step in our shared ministry. We invite you and your congregation to join Disciples from across Oklahoma for a Called Regional Assembly on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at First Christian Church Edmond (201 E. 2nd Street, Edmond, OK).

We will gather to listen, to vote on the candidate, and to celebrate as we consider calling our next Regional Minister, a moment that marks both continuity and new possibilities for our life together. We will also stream the service on the Region’s YouTube channel.

You Are Invited to Attend In-Person or Watch on YouTube

We encourage your congregation to attend the Called Regional Assembly. We will joyfully meet in-person but will also offer streaming on the Region’s YouTube channel. Each person must register their attendance in our online form, which is on the Region’s website https://okdisciples.org/2025-called-regional-assembly. While there is no cost to attend, advance registration helps us prepare well to welcome you.

We hope you will join us for this meaningful day, grounded in hope, guided by love, and committed to what God is doing among us. Be part of this moment as we imagine and step into what’s next for Disciples in Oklahoma.

With hope and anticipation,

Stacy L. Minnick, Regional Moderator

Ordained in September 1991, Lisa has experience in congregational ministry and holds degrees from Lynchburg College, Brite Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.

Henri Nouwen’s The Wounded Healer helped Michael find a voice for a call to ministry. A guiding quote from the book continues to inspire his service:
“When the imitation of Christ does not mean to live a life like Christ, but to live your life as authentically as Christ lived his, then there are many ways and forms in which a man (person) can be a Christian.”
