Foster Feet in Action: A Story of Church Community Outreach

Central Christian Church – Enid partners with Foster Feet to provide free shoes to children in need as a community outreach. The shoes are provided in the local schools and around the community as needed. Foster Feet was created by Lauren Anderson, who saw a need to help foster children who often need new shoes. Foster Feet collects and distributes new pairs of shoes to children in need across Garfield County.

This child showed up to school this week in the rain with his socks sticking out of the holes in his shoes.

His teacher contacted the school counselor. The counselor contacted Foster Feet. Kay Allison, with Foster Feet then went into action and delivered a new pair of shoes to the school.

By 2 p.m. this child was showing off his new shoes to his teacher. It doesn’t get any better than that! God is good. If you feel led to donate or volunteer with Foster Feet, click here to read more.

Central Christian Church – Enid, Gives Away 925 Pairs of Shoes

Central Christian Church – Enid,  partners with “Foster Feet“, which is a program that provides shoes to children in the community who need them. The original goal for the Foster Feet was to provide shoes to foster children who enter foster care with very little. The ministry has been expanded over the past couple of years to provide shoes to any child in need. Last year, the ministry provided shoes to over 700 children at the local schools and the church.

Enid Public Schools currently supports a student population of which almost 80% receive free or reduced prices lunches.  To qualify for this, students and their family’s income must be less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The need was clear to Central Christian Church – Enid, and their ministry team.

On August 12th, they gave away 925 pairs of shoes to kids and families. Rev. Tom Stanley, (Senior Minister at Central Christian Church – Enid) says, “One of the most amazing things I have ever seen is the look of pure joy when a child receives a new pair of shoes.”

Thank you to Lauren Anderson who had the vision to create Foster Feet. Thank you to Central Christian Church – Enid, for partnering in this ministry and providing such an amazing outreach ministry to the Enid community.
